A Taste Of Tennessee
If you like comfort and spice this is the dish for you. Fried chicken (the comfort food) drenched in a sweet hot sauce (the spice). This tasty delight is known as Nashville Hot Chicken.
You can eat this yummy treat on a buttered bun or on a buttered biscuit or just by itself with your favorite side (preferably French fries) and a veggie or salad.
Nashville Hot Sauce
1 stick butter melted
1/4 cup light brown sugar
2 tablespoons honey
1-2 tablespoons cayenne pepper
1 1/2 teaspoons smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
Melt the butter until it is bubbling then mix in all the other ingredients and stir together. If the sauce appears to be separating add a couple of tablespoons of water and heat and stir until it all comes together and is smooth. Pour the sauce over your fried chicken and serve immediately.
(A little helpful hint: Having a little dairy is a good idea since it helps to tame the “hot” in the Nashville Hot Chicken.)
Give this a try and….enjoy y’all!
