A St. Paddy’s Day Treat
Sunday, green will be the color of the day. People everywhere, Irish or not, will be honorarily Irish and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. No matter how you plan to acknowledge the day, we have a simple treat that you and everyone celebrating with you can enjoy 🙂 This treat is so simple and adults and children alike will be happy to have these tasty 4 leaf clovers. All you’ll need to make these fun clovers is some small twisted pretzels and some of the straight stick pretzels, as well as some white chocolate chips or white melting chocolate, about a teaspoonful of coconut oil, a few drops of green food coloring, and some green sanding sugar. We chose to use pretzels that are gluten free to make these treats something everyone in our families can enjoy, but you can use whatever kind you prefer.
Melt some white chocolate chips or bars of melting chocolate, in the microwave or in a pan over some boiling water. When the chocolate is fully melted, stir in some coconut oil, about 1 teaspoonful for about 1/2 a bag of chips or about 6 oz. When the mixture is fully combined, add a couple of drops of green food coloring and stir again just until the chocolate is green. Dip the twisted pretzels in the chocolate to completely coat them, then place on a piece of waxed paper or parchment paper covering a baking sheet. Use 4 pretzels to form a clover shape and then do the same with a stick pretzel and add it to the middle of the grouping of twisted pretzels to form the “stem” of the clover. Sprinkle with green sanding sugar if desired. This will make the clovers look like they have a sparkle.
Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator to set up the chocolate and allow it to harden. These sparkly green pretzel clovers can be served by themselves as a tasty treat or they can be used to decorate a cake or pie or placed on top of some shortbread as we did here.
Having something yummy to eat while you sip a delicious cup of Irish Breakfast Tea can add some love and joy to your day and make for some very abundant living on St. Patrick’s Day. It might just even give you a touch of the luck of the Irish!
