A Sincere Thanks To ‘The Father Of Cool’
What did those wonderful people do one hundred years ago on hot, muggy, summer days such as we have been having lately?
In November of 1876, a future engineer was born – the gentleman who eventually would bring us air conditioning! The Father of Cool!
Mr. Carrier was an employee at a printing company. The owner of the company was having difficulty, because of the heat, with doing his printing. Willis Carrier came up with what would be the first era of cooling.
Soon, homes had the luxury of being kept cool.
And here is where huge gratitude comes in! With the weather that we have been experiencing here in Southern California over the past few days, we are eternally grateful to be able to “Keep Cool and Keep Going”!
The Carrier air conditioning company lives on today. Thank you Mr. Carrier!

The Carriers were clients of mine in MA. They would go to Hilton head every year, an island not developed until a/c was available in the 40-50’s. Their home here was sold and used as a club house for a golf community. It was a lovely home.
You always have so many great stories Wendy! Love that you shared this one 🙂
How interesting Wendy. I am so grateful for Willis Carrier. I’m using his condenser right now so I can keep cool and carry on as I write several belated thank you notes.
