A Request of the Two Chums

A dear friend and follower of ours has requested that we write about King Charles’ Coronation which is coming up very soon! So write we will!

The invitation to the Coronation, which precious few people received, might be a surprise to you all as it is not as formal as one might expect.

Very beautiful, no doubt! Apparently all Coronation invitations are rather less formal than an invitation, for example, to one of the Queen’s (and now King’s) Garden Parties.

The invitation was designed by Andrew Jamieson, hand-painted in watercolor with gold foil detailing, and printed on recycled material. Details of the card include the “Green Man”, a figure from British folklore, celebrating the new reign, as well as a meadow of British wildflowers bordering the invitation, appearing in groups of three, to signify Charles becoming the third monarch of his name, according to the palace.

The coronation ceremony, at which Camilla will also be crowned, will take place at Westminster Abbey on Saturday, May 6, according to the palace.

The king and queen will each be attended by four Pages of Honour, who will form part of the procession to Westminster Abbey.

The king’s Pages of Honour include his grandson Prince George, Lord Oliver Cholmondeley, Master Nicholas Barclay and Master Ralph Tollemache.

Camilla’s Pages of Honour include her grandsons, Masters Gus and Louis Lopes and Master Freddy Parker Bowles, as well as her great-nephew Master Arthur Elliot. How very lovely that her family are so involved.

We gather that Prince Harry will be traveling from California for this momentous event and also that all of Prince William’s children will be present, including that adorable Louis.

The invitation for the Coronation was sent to over 2,000 guests who will fill the congregation of Westminster Abbey on the day of the ceremony.

Yes, it will certainly not be as large as his mother’s, The Queen’s, was back in 1953. Hers was apparently more like 8,000. He is certainly trying to cut down spending and a lot of people in Britain agree with him on that point.

It will be televised here in the United States and we will have to get up really early (or not go to bed) to see it live. Tune in!

More details will follow, we promise!

Here’s to the Royals!

God save the King!
