A Picture Of Humility – Well Done KD!
No matter how down you may be, how impossible your situation may seem, how unlikely success appears…stay humble and press on. Great things just may await you!A few days ago a 25 year old young man who grew up in a very challenged single parent home in the projects just outside Washington DC, told the world what faith, a great team, good coaching and a loving mother can do for a guy. Kevin Durant says “We weren’t supposed to be here. Everything was stacked against us”. That was just a part of one of the most humble and moving speeches anyone has heard come from any athlete, let alone one who had just been given an MVP award for his performance in the NBA.
KD as he is known, gave credit first and last to God for his success. In between, in a part of his lovely and quiet speech you didn’t hear on this video, he thanked each member of his team personally and by name and told how each one had contributed to his success. He gave praise to his coaches for all they had done for him. And then in a truly heartfelt moment he thanked the woman he credits most for his success, his mother:

His humility was so refreshing and clearly genuine. Kevin Durant honestly knows, that though he is extremely talented at the game of basketball, his career success is the result of more than just his talent. And he knows as well that having a successful basketball career is not the ultimate goal, but as he put it so eloquently, it is really “a platform for inspiring others”.
Kevin Durant, with the help of so many when he was knocked down again and again, didn’t give up, he got back up. So to this young man who has overcome so may obstacles, and who had the most unlikely chance of becoming an NBA player, much less the MVP, to this special young man who is the epitome of character and integrity, we say WELL DONE!
Thank you Kevin for using your success to inspire us to know never ever giving up and working hard leads to a life full of love, joy and so much abundance 🙂
