A Good Reminder
Sometimes when there is so much distress and anxiety all around us, it is possible, even normal to be overwhelmed and paralyzed. You can feel unable to do much of anything.
This weekend we came across a great reminder, a motivator, in the midst of the world crisis everyone is facing. Remember….
You know someone who needs to be encouraged, to be given a glimmer of hope when they are feeling hopeless. You know someone who needs a hero about now.
We can ALL do something to help someone else through this difficult time. Write a note of encouragement. Call or text someone who might not expect to hear from you and just check in. Place a sign or a big chalk board in your front yard that you write some words of encouragement on for your neighbors, or even just strangers who are walking by. Drop off something home baked for your neighbor with a little note. Support your favorite restaurants by ordering take out or buying gift cards to use in the future. Take a note of gratitude for the checker or bag person at your market. If you’re expecting an online order to arrive, leave a note and some cookies for the UPS or Fed-EX driver, or postman, delivering the package. Take a meal to someone who is alone and leave it by his or her front door. If you are able, send your hairdresser or barber, or gardener, or handyman a check because they are no doubt out of work and you can make a difference in their lives with some unexpected funds.
There are so many ways to encourage people, to show them you care and that in the midst of hard times they are not forgotten. So though you maybe can’t do big things, or as this sign says, “do everything”, you can do so many small things in a big way and make a great difference to someone. If we all do that, we can get through this and come out better than we were before. So remember…today is your chance to be someone’s hero!
