A Flower Crown?
When Sarah Ferguson walked down the aisle in July 1986 at her wedding to Prince Andrew (Queen Elizabeth’s second youngest son), she not only carried a dramatic S-shaped bouquet, but hid her tiara under an elaborate flower crown too.
When the soon-to-be Duchess of York and her father, Major Ronald Ferguson walked down the aisle at Westminster Abbey, her diamond tiara was hidden under a coronet of gardenias. She supposedly chose gardenias – a white, fragrant flower and some of our favorites — because they were Prince Andrew’s favorite.
It wasn’t until she signed the marriage certificate that she removed the flower crown, unveiling her brand-new tiara. For Fergie (and the rest of the world), the diamond diadem symbolized her official entrance into the royal family. The tiara had been a gift from her in-laws, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip.
Her daughter, Princess Eugenie, is to be married in just over a week
and we are wondering what she will wear on her head. We feel sure that she will wear the diamond tiara that was given to her mother, but will she, too,
wear a crown of flowers on top of it?
We will have to wait and see! Tune in a week from tomorrow. YES! Another royal wedding.
