An Oldie But Goodie With A Twist
This Magic Bar recipe has been around for decades. This is one of those recipes that once you’ve tried it you make it again and again. You just can’t go wrong with these Magic Bars. They are “magic” because they are simple to make, and simply yummy!
The “twist” in this classic cookie bar recipe is the addition of butterscotch chips, and using unsweetened coconut in place of the regular sugary kind. With the addition of the butterscotch chips, using the unsweetened coconut keeps the balance of the sweetness in check. Make some this weekend. EVERYONE will be so glad you did 🙂
Magic Bars
1 stick of butter, melted
2 cups of graham crackers crumbs
1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
1 cup coconut
1 cup butterscotch chips
1 cup pecans
1 can sweetened condensed milk
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Melt the butter in a square baking pan in the oven. When the butter is melted, add the graham cracker crumbs in an even layer.
Next add a layer of the chocolate chips
Then add the layer of coconut
Now add those butterscotch chips
Then the final layer, the pecans
Now for the sweetened condensed milk. Pour it all over the top to cover the nuts in the sweetened condensed milk
Now place the whole thing in the oven for 30 minutes and wait for the “magic” to happen!
Wait for the whole thing to cool, then cut into squares and serve. These are moist, sweet, crunchy, creamy and downright delicious!
